A standard SMS is 160 characters long. If you personalise the sender, a STOP notice of 16 characters will be added. In the same way, adding a short link will use between 16 and 20 characters. However, you are not restricted by these 160 characters and you can make the message longer if you like.
It is a requirement that each receiver has the opportunity to ‘exercise their right to oppose and no longer receive this type of message’. In cases where the number is 5 digits, the client can reply to the message to unsubscribe. When the sender is personalised, a STOP notice will be automatically added. The unsubscribed numbers are then added to a black list.
An acknowledgement receipt will indicate if your text message has been received. In cases where your SMS has not been received, there are 4 statuses: unassigned number, network error (in this case the SMS is sent several times over a 48-hour period), expired (in cases where the text has not been able to be issued) or other. Acknowledgement receipts are definitive 48 hours after the message has been sent.
