Sometimes customers are in a hurry or forgot their credit card and can't complete their order. Sometimes they even forgot they went to your website. Don't lose their interest for your online shop by sending SMS each time they leave their trolley without paying. Of course other triggers are available and we'll mention a few ones in this tutorial to provide several use cases. By the way, we'll be using Zapier's web service to configure this automation.
To create your account go to this page and enter your information. Zapier will send you a Account creation confirmation email which allows you to connect.
Note that Zapier offers you free 100 interactions per month. You can without subscription send a 100 SMS per month through your mailbox and this by having only as a cost the price of an SMS.
1-Message : the SMS's content. You can write text manually but also insert dynamic tags such as :
-Customer First Name
-Customer Last Name
-Total price + Currency
-Abandoned Checkout URL
-Line Items Title
-Discount Code
Write a specific coupon code manually to get the customer's attention for instance.
2-Message Push Type : select "alert". The other option ("marketing") forbids sending between 10 PM and 8 AM from monday to saturday, entirely on sundays.
3-Date to send : leave the default value "1 minute from now" because we already set up the delay previously.
4-Sender : shown at the top of the SMS notification. This field is not mandatory however you could insert your store's name (up to 11 caracters).
5-GSM Number : select "Customer Default Adress Phone" or one of the other phone number options.
At this step, Zapier suggests a test again. Here's a little trick to set up a simulation : with a fake customer account (again) that uses your phone number, abandon a cart and wait for the SMS (timing depends on the delay set up previousy). This test can be skipped but should be done to make sure everything works fine.
